Explain the document

A useful submission identifies what a document is, when it was created and why it matters to a specific claim. A test report should be connected to its sample and method. A court filing should identify the case and distinguish an allegation from an order.

Preserve the evidentiary chain

Readers should be able to understand how the source obtained the material and whether a public version exists. The editorial team may need to compare it with the open record and seek a response. A dramatic cover or a “leak” label does not authenticate a document.
